Mission Statement

D.I.V.A.S IN CHARGE We are truly excited to announce a newly formulated Girls Organization by the name of D.I.V.A.S IN CHARGE. The name came about through the creative minds of afterschool group leaders working at University Settlement. It sends a powerful message which is what we are intending to do, Dynamic Inspiring, Vibrant, Artistic Sisters. A sorority if you will, that will be given a place to all young ladies to call their own where they will be taught important virtues that they will need in life. We are giving young girls an option, better yet a right to take charge. To be in control of my life, to take charge and accept responsibility. Every young girl, every DIVA has a voice that needs to be heard. Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing space for young girls to own their own feelings as well as their experiences. Empowering the minds of young girls to take creative risks and create without fear of being judged. Our sole purpose is to teach all young ladies of The DIVAS In Charge Club the importance of being a girl in this world, how their very existence is an essential key to unlocking the doors to life. Choices

We all come to a point in our lives when we are confronted with a situation. A situation that requires us to make choices. Something that I was taught and taught the children I work with in return. Life is all about making choices. Commonly as humans we make the mistake in being impulsive, making a decision with out putting further thought into it. Eventually the fate of our decision may be something measuring of good or of bad. I am sure we can all say we have made some pretty bad choices, some pretty hard choices, some pretty easy choices and the list can go on. A choice can be extremely difficult, it can either make or break something or someone. But the beauty of being presented with choices is that we have the freedom, we have the freewill to choose and to make a choice. Wouldn't it be horrible to have someone control everything for us, to control our mind frame, ways of thinking and decision making? Choices, they can be good they can be bad. But regardless of what the choice is , it will leave a great impact in our lives. But if I can give you a word of advice, from my experience's in life, it is best to think before you act. Think before you speak, think before you make an irrational decision. Do not be quick to be impulsive, it never has a positive result.

D.I.V.A.S In Charge is an up and coming Girls Organization. Located in the heart of New York City. Divas in charge are an all girls club set out to create a community where girls of all ages can own up to their feelings. An environment created to feel more personal, like a safe haven. We set forth to bring amazing experiences to these young girls. Our mission is to develop strong characteristics out of each and every girl, instilling essential virtues upon them. So that as they continue on their journey into womanhood later on in life they will transform from young girls in the neighborhood to mature outstanding young ladies. And as they grow into young, confident, bold, established, emerging female leaders in our society /community what we have gave to them, they will pass unto others in return. Here we will empower them, enabling them to use the most powerful tool, the most powerful weapon of all ...Their minds and their voices. To remain silent in the sight of injustice is the true crime. As a D.I.V.A.S In Charge member…
I pledge to always be a dynamic young lady. Promising to be active in the community. To always think of others and their well being. To extend one hand to help others in need and the other to help myself as well.
I pledge to always inspire and share my gifts with the world. Never to second guess myself and the goodness of humanity. A random act of kindness goes a long way. To encourage a person who is low in spirit will reap a promising future for that soul and me, fighting less and loving more will increase the peace and form a tender core.
I pledge to be vibrant, to be a bright shining star. To reflect DIVA qualities among those that are around me. Making sure to remain true to who I am despite the negative influences that surround me, never to compromise my D.I.V.A.S characteristics. Even if all seems hopeless, dark and dismay I promise to be a gleam of hope never to go astray.
I pledge to be as artistic as can be. To cultivate, to motivate, to appreciate the uniqueness of everything around me. To see beyond the flaws that overshadows the beauty within. To paint the town the colors that radiate from the love that I show. To find use in things that society wants to throw away. One man’s trash is another’s mans treasure.
I pledge to be a sister to all DIVAS In Charge and all other females around me. Being a sister you share a lifelong bond. A sister is loyal, faithful and forever true. A sister is able to share divine secrets in confidence that it will never be exposed. A DIVAS In Charge member knows when to comfort her fellow sister, encouraging her to make her smile. Sisters stand beside one another through the good and bad. Sisters are best-friends till the end.
I am a D.I.V.A.S In Charge member and will pledge to fulfill this promise, living by the D.I.V.A.S Pledge.
